RIC #38

A while back my teamie Tasnim sent me some glitter pens. Best gift ever for this glitter lover! So I put them to use on this card.

Here is how I did it:
1. clear emboss the stamp (it's by Penny Black called Flower Poetry)
2. Ink it up with some olive distress ink
3. die cut with circle shape
4. Embellish with glitter pens

Won't you join us on Runway Inspired Challenge this time? The prize is a gift certificate to Ellen Hutson!  Check out the best DT EVER!

GCD Studios A card for father's day

Father's Day is fast approaching and I wanted to make my dad a hip card because that's the kind of guy he is! I love the cool vibe of the arrow patterned paper of the Special Delivery Paper Pack from GCD Studios. I combined it with the bold blue of the "Heidi" pattern for a fun look!

This card just happens to be my submitting card for my application for the Paper Smooches DT...and I made the team with it! YEAH!!

I am going to enter this in the Moxi Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I love the idea of many patterns coming together and working to create an interesting design.

The Paper Cut June 2013

The June issue of the Paper Cut is available now! It's Free!! The magazine features GCD Studios products, a fantastic design team, and a card made by yours truly :)

A little stitching on the "grass" gives some much needed texture.

Lately I have had fun decorating the inside of the card as well...I find punny sentiments funny, don't you?

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Guest Designer...Going Rogue Again

Another week of some Simon Says Challenge Blog guesting,  this time the challenge is TRANSPORT. Ok well I was trying to make a card that fit this theme, but somehow I translated transport to the synonym fly away...hence my butterfly. Using your IMAGINATION to be transported somewhere else.

I know, I know, its a stretch. But can you just play along?

I put some stickles along the edge of the butterfly for some extra pop!

Why don't you use your imagination and enter a card by clicking below:

A Blog Named Hero and Neat and Tangled UNITE!

Today we are showcasing a special collaboration at a Blog Named Hero. I chose to work with Swirly Twirly Tags from Neat and Tangled Stamps. Sometimes you make a card and you think...now who am I gonna give this to?

Well I actually gave this to a neighbor who gave us some fresh eggs from her CHICKENS! HA! Love it when a card and situation come together like that. Now check out A Blog Named Hero and see what the other gals came up with using their Neat & Tangled Stamps!

Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts June

Today is my first official post as a Paper Smooches Sparks DT member! I am nervous to post anything really because the DT is so fabulous. And wouldn't you know it, but I will be working on sketches for my posts. Oh boy, I think this was given to me so I would stop running way from them and start conquering the fear.

You know who has been rocking sketches lately? Lyndal Higgins! Check her blog out here.

Um...I took some liberties with the sketch. Kinda went ROGUE.

Wida <--You are here. In ROGUE country :)
The challenge ends Sunday June 16th at 11:59! So jump in and join us by clicking HERE

Nina and Meetings...

My blog buddy Nina Yang has some amazing new stamps and matching die out and I have been seeing fellow designers like Suzanne Dahlberg, Jennifer Rzasa, JJ Bolton, Joni Andaya,  Taheerah,  and Elena Roussakis blow me away with their creations. Here is what I came up with  (crossing fingers, holding my breath)...

Simply Tags can be found at Avery Elle!

So I am halfway through my weight loss journey. Starting to lose a little focus, but pushing to move forward.

I am also trying to work on not yelling so much at my kids. It's times like these that I can certainly feel the stress of 4 kids. Sometimes I joke and say, I would be an awesome parent of a single child. But get them all together and it's a madhouse!

Lance and I have "meetings" every few months to see how we are doing as a couple, parents, and family. Our last meeting revealed that we have started to notice we are yelling more. After some brainstorming, I came up with a yell jar. If you yell, your name goes in the jar and you do not get to see a movie TODAY! (it's been one week). If you do something merit worthy, then a person can choose to remove your name from the jar. This gives everyone a chance to be rewarded for good behavior too and it makes us conscious of how we are responding and finding other ways to interact other than yell. I am happy to report we have no names in the jar today. And the noise level in our house is down.

Sometimes it helps to have "meetings".  Sadly, there were no donuts or coffee provided :(

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Guest Designer

I have the pleasure of being a guest designer at Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog for the month of June. Please join me every Wednesday for a new creation. I am really excited about the stuff I made because it came out just like I wanted!

The challenge this month is to create a masculine card using Simon Says Stamp and Tim Holtz products. Now I knew the typical way to go is brown and buttons, so I thought, my dad is cooler than that! And what about a fun dad? My dad doesn't fish or wear suits and ties, so I created a CIRCUS inspired card :) I was inspired by a Cirque Du Soleil show I saw called LOVE in Los Vegas and it was fabulous! We and our spouses went to celebrate my brothers 36th birthday. Here we are before the show. They really design the whole space so artsy...

My brother is a fun and funny person and dad. This card is dedicated to him :)

For this card I used, all products are linked:

RIC #37 Disclaimer: I only own ONE bear stamp.

So here's the thing. I got the inspiration image and I was all set to do this edgy modern graffetti thing...it was going to be great! THEN Tasnim says, hey did you see the bear? And that TOTALLY made me see the bear, which would be fine, but I only have ONE bear stamp. A cute, little, cuddly Stampin Up! bear stamp.

So this card is the meshing of my original edgy cool thing and a cute bear. I am gonna say that I sorta kinda think it's cute :)

The prize is a GC to Paper Smooches! I used SHADOWS and WORD UP to create the background.

Check out the rest of the Runway Inspired Challenge DT...I am anxious to see if they used a bear too in their designs.
